MultiChoice Nigeria has unveiled 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani as judges for the ninth edition of Nigerian Idol.

In a statement, the organisers of the reality singing competition revealed that Omawunmi will guide contestants as they embark on their paths to success.

Omawumi was a guest judge on the seventh season.

Similarly, Multichoice stated that Ric Hassani is ready to share his insights with contestants and empower them to embrace their individualities.

Lastly, 9ice, the ‘Gongo Aso’ singer, was described as a “trailblazing artiste” who will help equip contestants with the tools they need to navigate the challenges ahead.

Speaking on the forthcoming season,  Busola Tejumola, MultiChoice’s executive head of content and channels in West Africa, said the fresh panel of judges will usher in “unparalleled talent.”

She added that season nine will set the standard for music talent shows in Africa.

“Nigerian Idol has continuously set the standard for music talent shows in Africa, and Season Nine promises to be no exception,” she wrote.

For its latest edition, IK Osakioduwa returns as the host of Nigerian Idol.

The new season will kick off on April 21 with live performances starting on May 26.

Nigerian Idol has birthed several music stars including Timi Dakolo, Mercy Chinwo, and Naomi Mac.
