Babatunde Sobowale, a 61-year-old Nigerian man, is the overall best graduating student of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
In a post via X on Wednesday, UNILAG said Sobowale graduated with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.84 at its 54th convocation.
The aged man graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the department of management sciences.
The institution commended Sobowale for his academic excellence, adding that he has set an example for students of all ages.
“Age is certainly nothing but a number. Meet Mr. Sobowale Babatunde, the 61-year-old trailblazer who shattered stereotypes by emerging as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Distance Learning Institute @DLIUnilag with a CGPA of 4.84 at the 54th Convocation ceremonies of the University of Lagos,” the institution said.
“Mr. Sobowale is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management. He holds a Higher Diploma in Business Management Technology, and also a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management.
“He is a seasoned professional with a diverse skill set and rich experience in public service, personifying excellence in every aspect.
“His journey to academic excellence is an inspiring testament to the power of dedication to lifelong learning. He has set an example for students of all ages with this outstanding achievement.”
