Maikudi, in her acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the senate members for their “strong support” for her.
Born on January 31, 1983, Maikudi is the youngest female professor of law in Northwestern Nigeria and at UniAbuja.
She attended Queens College, Lagos, where she obtained her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
She then proceeded to the University of Reading, graduating with an LLB in 2004, and earned an LLM from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 2005. She completed her PhD in International Law in 2015 from the University of Abuja.
Maikudi joined the UniAbuja as a Lecturer II on September 4, 2008, and rose to the rank of professor in 2022.
She was the first female deputy dean of the university’s law faculty in 2018 and later served as the pioneer director of the University of Abuja International Centre in 2019.
Maikudi has participated in numerous national and international conferences in countries including the UK, the US, South Africa, Germany, Italy, and Egypt.
She has also conducted extensive research on United Nations Law and has published prolifically in this area.
Maikudi is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Nigerian Law Teachers Association (NLTA), and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
