Akin Abayomi, Lagos state commissioner of health, on Tuesday, announced that all participants at this year’s African Magic viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) may have been exposed to the deadly coronavirus.

The 2020 AMVCA — held on March 14 — had left several fears in its trail after unconfirmed reports had earlier suggested that one of the celebrities who attended the annual event showed symptoms of COVID-19.

The yet-to-be identified individual was said to have initially turned down entreaties to report himself to the appropriate quarters. He, however, reportedly submitted himself for test later.

Reacting to the development, the health commissioner had warned those who were in attendance that they might have come in contact with the confirmed case.

“I hereby notify you that all participants at the African Magic viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) held on 14th March at @EkoHotels may have come in contact with one of the confirmed cases in Lagos and are most likely to have been exposed to #COVID19 Infection,” he had announced on Twitter.

Ayo Makun, Nigerian stand-up comedian better known as AY, was among several celebrities that attended this year’s edition of the annual event that recognies outstanding achievement in television and film across the continent.

Waje

Aituaje Iruobe, a Nigerian singer better known as Waje, was also among celebrities that graced this year’s edition of AMCVA. Shortly after the event, the gifted singer had announced she had gone into self-isolation.

“I got a lot of DMs and messages asking those who attended the AMCVA to self-isolate and all of that. I know I attended the award so I’ll definitely just stay home,” she had said.

Toyin Abraham

Toyin Abraham, Nigerian actress, is another celebrity who could be at the risk of contracting the virus. The actress was seen at the event when she snagged the “Best Actress in a Drama (Movie/TV Series)’ gong.

She graced the event alongside Kolawole Ajeyemi, her husband.

Mercy Aigbe

Also featuring among the bevy of movie stars who were in attendance at this year’s AMVCA is Mercy Aigbe, Nigerian actress. Like other celebrities at the event, the talented actress shared a picture of herself on social media.

Funke Akindele

Funke Akindele, Nollywood star, also featured among the host of celebrities that graced the AMVCA 2020.

The award-winning film star, who won ‘Best Actress in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series)’ category, was accompanied to the event by Abdul Rasheed Bello, her husband. The lovebirds had also shared a picture of themselves dressed for the event.

2Baba

2Baba also made the cut of participants at the AMVCA 2020 who may have been exposed to the COVID-19.

The award-winning singer who recently celebrated his 7th wedding anniversary with Annie Macaulay-Idibia, his wife, had taken to his social media page to flaunt a picture of himself clad in an attire worn to the event.

He had also shared a video clip of himself performing at the star-studded event.

Don Jazzy

Not left out of those who attended the AMVCA 2020 is Michael Collins Ajereh, Nigerian record producer better known as Don Jazzy.

Pretty Mike

Mike Eze-Nwalie Nwogu, a Lagos nightclub owner popularly known as Pretty Mike, also stormed the AMVCA 2020 rocking an outfit inspired by the maleficent costume.

The socialite was at the event accompanied by his bevy of angels.

The annual event was also graced by some of the crème de la crème in the entertainment scene including Cobhams Asuquo, Emeka Uchendu, Harry Song, Yvonne Jegede, Michelle Dede and Idia Aisen.

Others are Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Uche Odoh, Lala Akindoju, Adunni Ade, Kiki Omeili, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi and BBNaija trio of Omashola, Mercy Eke, and Mike Edwards, Banky W and Adesuwa; his wife, among others.
