According to Hollywood Reporter, the streaming giant also enlisted Stone Quarry Productions, Snyder’s company, for the project following the success of the original movie.

It remains unclear when the project would be released but Snyder is reportedly linking up with Shay Hatten, ‘Army of the Dead’ head writer, to develop a sequel to one of Netflix’s most-watched original movies of all-time

The two-year deal comes weeks after Netflix also enlisted the movie director for ‘Rebel Moon’, its sci-fi adventure film.

Deborah Snyder, Stone Quarry’s partner, said that Netflix had given them the freedom to achieve their goals as the partnership was based on mutual respect.

“For us, it was so important to find a partnership that was based on mutual respect. The creative process works best when everybody trusts each other and you can take chances and be creative,” she said.

“For us, we don’t usually play it safe. The content we make is a little bit edgier. And I think it’s important to have a good partnership and hear each other.

“And Netflix has given us a lot of freedom. But they’ve also embraced the idea of trying new things and not necessarily waiting for success before moving ahead.”

On his part, Snyder said his goal had always been making “quality projects on a giant scale.”

“My goal and hope are to bring as much quality content as I can and do it on a giant scale, big projects and big movies,” he was quoted as saying.
