Yvonne Jegede says she was nearly robbed late at night along the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The Nollywood actress said the incident occurred on Thursday night while she was driving alone in the traffic.

She said an unknown individual jumped out from under the bridge around Oworonsoki but she escaped due to the moving traffic.

“Last night at about 9 pm, one guy almost robbed me on 3rdMB. I was lucky the traffic moved a bit so I moved my car and then he took off. Under the bridge at Oworonsoki needs to be sanitized,” the actress wrote on Twitter.

“The guy jumped out from under the bridge. They target people driving alone. Be safe guys.”

Jegede won’t be the first Lagos-based actor to lament the nefarious activities of traffic robbers in Lagos.

In 2021, Rick Hassani, the singer, narrated how his manager was beaten up and their phones were taken.

“This thing has gotten really bad, where people dressed like soldiers can rob me in broad daylight. It was 1:30 pm along Freedom Way, Lekki Phase one. That place is always busy, never free. Yet they robbed me in traffic,” he had said.

“At the time, I was just on my phone and my manager was busy talking to them. Before I knew it, they jumped into the car and told my manager to drive somewhere. He said we mistakenly hit him and his phone fell off his hand.

“When he got frustrated about how I outsmarted him, he started beating my manager. While he was still beating him, somebody came from the other side to take my phone and my manager’s. He took the car keys.”

Chidi Mokeme, the Nollywood actor, and Soso Soberekon, the music executive, had recently narrated their separate encounters with traffic robbers in Lagos.
