Yul Edochie, the Nollywood actor, has called for unity and harmony in the Igbo community.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the movie star argued that the “jealousy and envy” among Igbo people “is too much”.
Edochie said the competition among his tribesmen has gotten to the extent that family members “no longer wish themselves well”.
“Too much jealousy and envy amongst Igbos,” he wrote.
“If you’re doing well as an Igbo person, your biggest hater is your fellow Igbo person. Sometimes even your family member. Why???
“Igbos we need to do better. We’re great. Stop the envy. Stop the competition. Stop the competition. Things change when we address them.”

It remains unclear what prompted the film star’s post.
Edochie has continued to receive backlash since he unveiled Judy Austin as his second wife in April 2022.
May Edochie, Yul’s first wife, who was not pleased with her husband’s choice of a second wife, filed for divorce in August.
May demanded “N100 million in damages against Judy for adultery with her husband”.
She also filed for a court order restraining Yul from accessing their former matrimonial home because of “security concerns”.
