Shade Ladipo, the media personality, has taken a swipe at Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion singer, for not being “vocal about the elections.”
Burna Boy earlier revealed that he has never supported any candidate because he doesn’t want to influence people’s choices and have them disappointed.
“I don’t know why it’s such a big deal to some Nigerians that I’ve not been vocal about the elections. Personally, I don’t have a candidate that I believe in,” he had said.
“I’ve never supported any political party or candidate in my life because I don’t want to make you vote and then blame me when the person fucks up as usual. That being said, I hope all votes count and the best man wins.”
His reasons for not being active during elections were, however, unconvincing to some Nigerians on social media.
Reacting to the singer’s remark via Instagram, the media personality described Burna Boy as a “clown and an opportunist who only uses Nigerian and African issues to promote his music.”
Ladipo also slammed Burna Boy for not using his influence to create political awareness.
“Your African ant is a clown. If you are a true pan Africanist as you claim, then you must understand the importance of these elections,” she said.
“Promoting voter participation doesn’t involve supporting any candidate. You are a clown and an opportunist who only uses Nigerian/African issues to promote your music. F**king fraud with fake dreads.”
The presidential election was held on Saturday with a total of 18 candidates contesting for Nigeria’s highest office.
Burna Boy had earlier appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the election results are not altered.
