Folarin Falana, the Nigerian rapper better known as Falz, has responded to the fallout from his recent prank engagement post, suggesting his real marital plans are none of the public’s business.
The confusion began on August 28 when the singer took to Instagram to share photos of himself and a woman in matching traditional Northern Guinean attire, posing romantically.
The post strongly implied an engagement, sparking a wave of congratulatory messages from fans and celebrities alike.
The celebration was short-lived, however, as Falz soon clarified, in a follow-up post, that the entire post was a promotional campaign for a fashion stylist, not a life announcement.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 34-year-old rapper addressed the criticism he received, particularly the notion that he had become “the boy who cried wolf”.
Some social media users had commented that when he does genuinely get married, no one will believe or care.

Falz stated that it was “bold to assume” he would ever share details of his marriage with the public, adding that he might only share if he is “deeply in love” with his partner.
“Since the big reveal and people now know I’m actually not married, some have said this is a case of the boy who cried wolf, and that when I actually get married, nobody will care,” he said.
“Bold of you to assume I want you to be in the marriage with me. Bold of you to assume that if I do get married, I will share it, but we never know, I might be so much in love and want the world to know. Stay tuned.”
In April, Falz disclosed he remains single at age 34 because he hasn’t found anybody that “likes me”.
