“I just had my genealogy done a couple of years ago,” Meghan said during a thought-provoking discussion with Issa Rae, Ziwe Fumudoh, and Emily Bernards.

Her revelation has continued to attract mixed reactions on Twitter, where some Nigerians have been sharing their opinions.

While some users claimed she could be “Yoruba,” others expressed their excitement that “a Nigerian is in the royal family.”

“It’s good to know that a Nigerian is in the royal family. Since Meghan Anatole has revealed that she is 43% Nigerian. Then we Nigerians can be proud to say that we are in the royal family, even though she and her husband have denounced the family,” a Twitter user wrote.

“The Duchess of Sussex just confirmed that she is 43% Nigerian. Nigeria, let me go check my own genealogy probably I’ll be able to confirm that I’m 80% American coz I no fit lie, this Naija don tire me,” another Twitter user wrote.

The revelation comes more than a year after the Duchess’ explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
