The management of Yaba of College of Technology, Lagos, has suspended academic activities, including ongoing examinations following the fire outbreak that razed the first floor of Bakassi Hostel.

Charles Oni, the institution’s spokesperson said this in a statement released on Wednesday, Punch reports.

“All examinations and lectures, especially scheduled for today (Wednesday) have been put on hold while the College attends to the exigency”, Oni said.

He, however, corrected the notion that there was no water on campus to quell the inferno.

“The Management regrets the misguided and outright falsehood on the social media and calls to certain radio stations that there was no water on campus to quell the fire.

“The truth is that firemen needed an excavator to attend to the fire, which the College provided promptly”, he said.

Oni added that the school’s rector has summoned the associates of the institution not to be disturbed as actions are being taken to rectify the accident.

Meanwhile, Margaret Ladipo, the rector, has called on the college community to remain calm as the management looks for ways to soothe the pains inflicted by the accident.
