Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has sparked mixed reactions after she called out popular food content creator Tolani ‘Chef T‘ Tayo-Osikoya for allegedly ignoring her collaboration request.
The film star took to Instagram to reveal that she had reached out to Chef T last year, asking to feature in one of her cooking episodes to promote her upcoming movie.
Wumi shared screenshots of the messages and accused Chef T of feeling “too big”.
The actress’ post sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users supporting her stance and others defending Chef T.
At least, even if you don’t want to collaborate, reply her message na! Tell you don’t do collabo or whatever , Wumi Toriola is a star, it’s not like she was in ur DM begging you for 2k. You may think you don’t owe her a response but you do! She’s not a nobody! https://t.co/tZCsUO0LbJ

The only reason some of you are calling Wumi Toriola classless is bcos she acts Yoruba movies & you like chef T.
AdvertisementThey’re both celebrities. She replied her first message, she could have replied the second one too instead of airing her.
She didn’t even have to grant her request.

Airing someone can be very paínful. I am not a fan of Wunmi Toriola, but a simple “oh I am not open to collaborations” or “I am not interested” from Chef T would have sufficed.
However, It’s your platform and it’s up to you to do whatever you choose with it.

What Wunmi Toriola did to Chef T yesterday reeks of entitlement.
I think the whole hype of her not taking nonsense has gotten into her head a lot.— Road to Rich Aunty (@Ayomiepat_) March 14, 2025

Joining the fray, Opeyemi Famakin, the Nigerian food critic, defended Chef T while accusing Wumi of feeling “entitled”.
Famakin argued that Chef T frequently collaborates with others in the food space. He also questioned why Wumi was “dragging her unprovoked” because her messages went unanswered.
“For we Chef T lovers in the food space, if you would call three people that have done the most collaborations with people in the food space, and Chef T is not in your top three, then you are a bad person,” he said in an Instagram video.
“Chef T does a lot of collaborations and her collaborations are not even with only popular people. She does them with people she likes. Chef T does a lot of collaborations, so you are not entitled to her collaborations
“I always say that as a big content creator, it is better that you collaborate with people that you like because most people reaching out to you for collabs do not like you. They do not like you, they want your number.
“This person shared a DM where she was like I am a fan, I like what you do, and because Chef T did not answer you, all of a sudden you are dragging her. I keep saying that most people who want to collaborate with you do not like you.
“They do not hate but they do not like you. They do not care about you, they care about your number. If truly you are a fan, you would not be dragging the person unprovoked because she did not give you a collaboration.
“We do not do Chef T slander here, Chef T is a sweetheart. Chef T is positively contributing to the food space in Nigeria and Africa, and I am not going to stand and watch one actress who did not get a collaboration drag the person’s name. We do not do that here.”
Chef T has yet to make any comments regarding the issue.
