Hauwa, a woman in Kano state, has reportedly killed two of her children as a protest after Ibrahim Haruna Aminu, her husband, married another wife.

It was gathered that the sad incident took place on Saturday morning in Diso village, Gwale local government area of the state.

Hauwa was said to have killed the two little children while her husband was away with his new wife in another house.

She was also said to have violently charged at residents who attempted to apprehend her after the incident.

Sadiq Haruna Aminu, an uncle to the deceased children, said the relationship between Hauwa and her husband deteriorated after the latter took in a new wife.

He said Hauwa had stabbed the two children severally until they breathed their last.

“The incident happened when the husband was away and in his new wife’s place,” he was quoted as saying.

“His eldest wife, Hauwau called him on phone this morning that all is not well in their house, only for him to go to the house and meet the lifeless bodies of the children in the pool of blood. She carried out the atrocities and ran away from the house.

“She beat the children and used a knife to cut them. Her sister’s daughter (10-year-old) who was living with them was also another victim, but she survived with a cut on her hand.

“We don’t know her whereabouts at the moment; we spoke with the security operatives. But we learned she went to her parent’s house.”

Ahmad Bello, a community head, condemned the incident, explaining that it left people in the area in shock.

Abdullahi Haruna, the state police command spokesman, also confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had already been apprehended.

He added that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
