According to Nwelue, Soyinka sent him a congratulatory message after hearing of his nomination.

“Your nomination especially optimistically welcome,” he posted on Facebook.

“No matter the final results, even the nomination deserves ‘washing’.

“I understand you’re under the weather – probably comes from drinking those terrible sweet wines.

“Let me know when you’re up and doing and we’ll fix a time for that viewing. I hope at least you’re no longer crutch dependent for basic mobility!”

Nwelue was involved in an accident in February which left him gravely injured and crutch dependent.

“My sacroiliac joint is dislocated from my spine and hip; reason why I feel so much pain and have not been able to step out of the room where I am,” he wrote on Facebook while recovering.
