Nigerian Afropop star, Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun, on Sunday won three awards at the Billboard Music Awards.

Wizkid was nominated in seven categories by virtue of his contribution to ‘One Dance’, Drake’s global hit song which also features Kyla.

‘One Dance’ was nominated for Top Hot 100 Song, Top Selling Song, Top Radio Song, Top Streaming Song (Audio), Top Collaboration, Top R&B Song and Top R&B Collaboration.

The song won Top Streaming Song, Top R&B Song and Top R&B Collaboration.

Wizkid served as a featured artiste on the commercially successful 2016 song which he also co-produced.

Billboard award winners are assessed based on their song sales, streams, radio airplay, live tours and social engagement.

Drake and The Chainsmokers were the most nominated, with 22 categories each.

Twenty-One Pilots have 17 nominations, Rihanna earned 14 while The Weeknd and Beyonce had 13 nominations each.

Drake has already won Top Rap Tour, Top Rap Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist and the Top Song Sales Artist at the ongoing ceremony.

Thus far, Beyonce has won Best Female Artist, Best R&B Artist and Top Touring Artist.

The annual awards ceremony is taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, US.
