Wizkid, the Afrobeats star, has put out the second installment of ‘Soundman‘, his much-anticipated extended play (EP).
‘Soundman Vol. 1′ was released in 2019. Earlier in the week, the Grammy winner announced December 22 as the release date for the new project.
Wizkid enlisted Zlatan Ibile and Wande Coal in the four-track project,
The songs in the EP include ‘Ololufe’ ft. Wande Coal, ‘Energy’, ‘Diamonds’, and ‘Idk’ ft. Zlatan Ibile.
The project came a month after Wizkid hinted that he was on a five-year hiatus from music.
Born Ayo Balogun, Wizkid is among the leading names in African music with a huge fanbase, several awards, and honorary mentions.
He last dropped a full project on November 11, 2022 — which was ‘More Love, Less Ego‘, his fifth album.
In 2023, he was, however, enlisted in collaborative songs by Rexxie and Wande Coal among a few.
While teasing a new album, Wizkid said he has made enough music to retire.
“It is amazing to see how far African music has come, big shout out to everyone supporting the movement,” he said.
“I have got a new album ready to go, a new Wiz album. I am dropping a new song next week, in a couple of days.
“I have enough music to retire, we are recording everyday so imagine how much music I have now.
“I love the recording, the performing, I love everything to be honest. I have built my life around this for years, this is the only way I know.”
