The Nigerian singer whose real name is Ayodele Balogun is set to sign a deal with Sony/RCA, according to Ovie Ofugara, editor at NotJustOk, a Nigerian music website.

In a series of tweets, Ofugara affirms that the deal is “mind blowing” and is as good as done.

He said: “All things being equal, Wizkid will put pen to paper on a mega deal with Sony/RCA tomorrow (Tuesday). Everything is agreed in principle.

“The figures being mentioned in the Wizkid Sony/RCA deal are mind-blowing”, he added.

“The deal places Wizkid and Davido on the same platform, which makes things very interesting. (Ayo Jay signed with RCA directly).

“Universal made a strong play for Wizkid (a top exec travelled to London for talks months back), but Sony offered a much better package.”

If the deal becomes reality, Wizkid will join Davido, fellow artiste, on the roster of the American record label.

Davido signed a global record deal with Sony Music Enertainment in January 2016. The deal is believed to worth an estimated $1m.
