Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun stopped his speech midway on Sunday at the All Africa Music Awards due to a minor fire outbreak.
The Afrobeats singer was in the process of giving his speech when he was forced to cut it short as a result of a fire that ignited from the firecrackers onstage.
Wizkid shouted “fire” and fled the stage while DJ Jimmy Jatt tried to put out the fire by stomping on it.
After the fire was put out, Wizkid returned to finish his speech.
The Starboy, as he’s known, won three awards; Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best West African male artiste.
His Nigerian compatriot, Seyi Shay, was also the victim of an embarrassing incident.
The ‘Murda’ singer lost her balance and hit the floor while performing ‘Yolo Yolo’ at the award ceremony.
