Despite teasing a new album, Wizkid, the multiple award-winning singer, has hinted that he is on a five-year hiatus from music.
On Sunday, the Afrobeats star took to his Instagram story to share a direct message received from an inquisitive fan asking when he will release a new song.
“Afa drop songs now abi ogun they k*ll you,” the fan wrote.
In his response, the singer said he would not be dropping music in the next four to five years.
He also humorously contemplated a range of activities he would indulge in during his break.
The Afrobeats star urged his fans to prioritise their well-being and cherish moments with loved ones.
‘Una papa dey holiday oo. Make I enjoy. Back in 4 years, make una papa chop him money small. Or 5. Or I fit still go dey play ball now,” he wrote.
“Or make I start dey play golf or fifa h*e or wrestling b*tch! All of una dey craze! Everybody dey mad.
“On some G shit. I hope you motherf**kers alright body mind and soul and taking time out to enjoy with your loved ones.”
Born Ayo Balogun, Wizkid last dropped a full project on November 11, 2022 — which was ‘More Love, Less Ego‘, his fifth album.
In 2023, he was, however, enlisted in collaborative songs by Rexxie and Wande Coal among a few.
With a huge fanbase, several awards, and honorary mentions, Wizkid is among the leading names in African music.
While teasing the new album, Wizkid said he has made enough music to retire.
It remains to be seen if he will not be putting out a song in the next five years.
The singer lost his mum in August. Jane Dolapo Balogun was buried last month.
