John Ighodaro, the Nigerian singer better known as Johnny Drille, has put out a song consoling single people on this year’s Valentine’s Day.

It is Valentine’s season and social media in Nigeria has been inundated with talks about finding a partner with whom to spend time and build a meaningful relationship.

In Drille’s new song released on Sunday, the musician states that being single in such a season isn’t tantamount to committing a crime.

The singer also inserts a witty line where he asked single people to feel no pressure but raise their heads to the sky.

This, he adds, is to avoid seeing girls and boys cuddled up in the romance that is typical of the season.

“You’re just single, it’s not a crime. You didn’t kill nobody, didn’t take a life. You’re just single and that’s fine. It’s not your fault you’re alone on Valentine’s,” his lyrics read.

“Remember that Jesus didn’t have a Val. So don’t feel no pressure, just raise your head high. And look to the sky so you don’t see Gil’s and boys.”

Drille started his journey in the music scene when he featured as a contestant on the sixth season of Project Fame West Africa in 2013.

In 2015, he came through with a cover of ‘Awww’ by Dija, the Nigerian singer, who later became a label mate.

His unique sound caught the attention of Don Jazzy, CEO of Mavin Records, and he signed with the foremost record label in 2017.

The 31-year-old singer has since then released numerous singles that turned out to be successful with massive reception.
