The cast members of ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’, Funke Akindele’s forthcoming movie, have teamed up for a festive song ‘Everybody Loves Christmas’.
The song, released on Tuesday, is the original soundtrack to the upcoming film.
The footage opens with Bisola Aiyeola singing “Christmas, my favourite time of the year, the time of the year when the jollof is always sweeter and the chicken always bigger” after which Layi Wasabi delivers some of his iconic lines.
Cast members including Funke Akindele, Falz, Juliana Olayode, Nancy Isime, and Waje serve their verses individually in the five-minute single while D’banj adds his signature melodies.
Jide Kosoko shows up as Santa Claus while showing off his rap skills in a few lines. Patience Ozokwo also adds flavor with her rendition in Igbo.
‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is part of the Jenifa franchise which tells the tale of a naive and funny character of the same name.
The franchise began in 2008 with the first installment and a sequel titled ‘Return of Jenifa’ in 2011.
It also spawned spin-offs like ‘Aiyetoro Town’ (2019, 18 episodes) set in Jenifa’s village, and ‘Jenifa on Lockdown’ (2021).
The new movie features a star-studded cast, including Wasabi, Nancy Isime, Jackie Appiah, Falz, Omowunmi Dada, Chimezie Imo, Ozokwo, and Stan Nze.
‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is set to premiere in cinemas on December 13.
