The clip, which was released on Tuesday, sees Akindele lose her cool in a face-off with Shaffy Bello, another renowned actress in the Nollywood scene, who also features in the political thriller.

‘Your Excellency’, which is billed to hit the cinema on December 13, tells the story of Olalekan Ajadi, a billionaire businessman and failed presidential candidate, who is obsessed with Donald Trump.

Just when his campaign looks set to be another disaster, Ajadi is anointed by a major party and becomes a credible contender.

As the political drama unfolds, it seems possible that even the most inept candidate, with little to offer voters except viral soundbites and amusing antics, can mount a serious challenge for the presidency — through the power and influence of social media.

The film, written by Yinka Ogun, sees Akin Lewis play the lead role of ‘Chief Olalekan Ajadi’ alongside Akindele, who played the character ‘Kemi Ajadi’.

Others who featured in the movie are Kunle Coker, Shaffy Bello, Emmanuel Edunjobi, Alexx Ekubo, Toni Tones, and Bimbo Manuel.

Abudu, who is the executive producer of ‘Your Excellency’, commended Akindele on her flair for comic roles and expressed her delight over the creative partnership.

“EbonyLife Films is really excited to have Funke Akindele at the helm, directing her first feature. Her knack for telling a good story, her comedic instincts and an incredible work ethic make her the perfect choice for this film,” she said while speaking on the forthcoming movie.

“Everyone will be able to relate to the characters and the way in which social media is shaping our lives and the country’s future.”
