Ebony Life has put out the official trailer for ‘Your Excellency’, Mo Abudu’s forthcoming movie, which doubles as Funke Akindele’s directorial debut.

The clip was released on Friday ahead of the movie’s December 13 debut — with Akindele portrayed as the money-loving “wife” of Akin Lewis, a presidential candidate, who is ridiculously obsessed about US’ Donald Trump.

It also portrays Akindele losing her cool in a face-off with Shaffy Bello, another renowned actress in the Nollywood scene, who also features in the political thriller.

‘Your Excellency’ tells the story of Olalekan Ajadi (Lewis), a billionaire businessman and failed presidential candidate, who is anointed by a major party and becomes a credible contender, just when his campaign had hit rock bottom.

As the drama unfolds, it seems possible that even the most inept candidate, with little to offer voters except viral soundbites and amusing antics, can mount a serious challenge for the presidency through the power and influence of social media.

The film, written by Yinka Ogun, sees Lewis play ‘Chief Olalekan Ajadi’ alongside Akindele, who stars as ‘Kemi Ajadi’.

Others who also featured in the movie are Kunle Coker, Emmanuel Edunjobi, Alexx Ekubo, Toni Tones, Falz, and Bimbo Manuel.

Falz appeared to have played a cameo role, as he reprises his ‘AK Famzy’ character from ‘Chief Daddy’, last year’s mega-hit.

Abudu, who is the executive producer of ‘Your Excellency’, commended Akindele on her flair for comic roles and expressed her delight over the creative partnership.

“EbonyLife Films is really excited to have Funke Akindele at the helm, directing her first feature. Her knack for telling a good story, her comedic instincts and an incredible work ethic make her the perfect choice for this film,” she said while speaking on the movie.

“Everyone will be able to relate to the characters and the way in which social media is shaping our lives and the country’s future.”
