Aituaje Iruobe, Nigerian singer better known as Waje, has announced the demise of her father.
The music star broke the news in a terse Instagram post wherein she penned a touching tribute to the deceased.
Waje, however, did not disclose the circumstances that led to her father’s death.
“A girl needs a father. A girl needs her father. This girl will always love her father. This girl will dearly miss her father. Rest well daddy. You will always be in our hearts!” she wrote.

Waje has established herself as a household name in the Nigerian music industry with several awards and recognition.
In April, the singer had recounted how support from her family members helped her survive being a teenage mum.
“I know I had a very strong support system. My mum was there for me, my brothers, my family. Nobody made you feel bad. What was important to my family was me going back to school and being the Waje I’m today,” she had said.
“In her early years, my mum took her. My mum’s sister helped as well. So I didn’t have that story of being dejected. Of course, people made me feel that way, we’re in Nigeria. It’s a normal thing but I’m still here. That’s my story.”
