VJ Adams says Wizkid can afford to go three years without releasing a song, yet remain relevant.
The video jockey, in a chat with TVC, spoke about Wizkid’s 2022 achievement and the singer’s industry clout.
“Starboy [is] number one. He’s one of those artistes who can go two to three years without a record and he would still be Starboy. Not a lot of people can do that,” the media personality said.
Speaking further, VJ Adams added: “A lot of people have to drop records continuously to maintain relevance.
“Starboy did three nights at the O2. That’s Starboy. He’s a big deal.”
Wizkid released his fifth album ‘MLLE’ last November after several weeks of teasing.
The 13-track project features Skepta, Ayra Starr, Naira Marley, Skillibeng, Sheen Sea, and Don Toliver.
The singer’s four other projects include ‘Superstar’, ‘Ayo’, ‘Sounds From The Other Side’, and ‘Made In Lagos’.
‘Made In Lagos’, released after several months, got two nominations at the 2022 edition of the Grammy Awards.
Wizkid is set to tour North America in 2023 for his latest album.
Speaking on the project, he said: “It’s just to show you what the world needs actually at this time.
“It’s absolutely more love, less ego. Everyone absolutely needs the expression right now and there’s more to crave.”
