Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the ooni of Ife, has made his comedy debut after featuring in a skit by Debo Adebayo, a Nigerian comedian better known as Mr. Macaroni.

The three-minute clip, which was released in the early hours of Saturday, has since elicited hysteria among many Nigerians across social media platforms.

Macaroni had recently paid a visit to the ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife in the company of some movie stars, where he was able to get the traditional ruler and some of the palace officers in the new skit.

Macaroni, as he did in previous episodes, played a randy man who seeks to woo a lady he accosted along the street, unknown to him that she was a daughter to a rather influential traditional ruler.

On following the lady to her home, he would later meet the lady’s father, a role played by the ooni, who charged Yoruba people not to forsake the tradition of respect and kneeling before elders.

“I thought you meant contemporary men don’t prostrate to monarchs anymore. We from the Yoruba race, when we see our elders, we must respect them,” the monarch explains.

The monarch subsequently gets Mr Macaroni to cut grasses on a field after the comedian’s failed love pursuit.
