Tjay, a Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season 9 housemate, nearly drowned during the show’s Thursday night pool party.
The housemates commenced their first party in Biggie’s house on Thursday, and it typically involved eating, drinking, and dancing.
Some housemates were enjoying high-octane fun inside the pool when Tjay, born Tunji Adeniji-Soji, appeared to have lost his footing.
In a now-viral video, the 33-year-old doctor is seen struggling to maintain his balance and footing while trying to stay afloat in the pool.
The housemates did not notice the situation until Ben, Tjay’s partner in the house, saw him battling to keep his head above water and immediately came to his rescue.

This year’s BBNaija premiered on July 28 with the unveiling of 28 housemates paired up in a team of 14.
The show will run for 71 days and end on October 6. The winner of the 2024 season will go home with the grand prize of N100 million.
This week, all pairs of housemates — except team Beta (Ben and Tjay) who won immunity, and Ndi Nne (Chinne and Nne) who are the custodians of the house — are up for possible eviction.
The Mbadiwe Twins, who won the first heads of house (HoH) title, are also up for possible eviction, according to Biggie’s new and surprising twist.
