Aaron Carter, the rapper who is also a brother to one of the Backstreet Boys, has died at age 34.

Carter was a younger brother to Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys, the five-member American vocal group.

TMZ reports that Aaron was found dead in his bath at his Lancaster, California home on Saturday morning.

It is understood that the LA County police arrived at around 18:00 GMT after receiving a “drowning” report.

Representatives of his team were quoted as confirming the rapper’s death.

“Right now it’s a really bad time. We’re trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was,” they said.

“We’re just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family.”

Aaron started out in music opening for the Backstreet Boys in concerts.

He shot to fame back in the late 1990s as a pop singer, releasing four studio albums.

The singer started with his self-titled debut album released in 1997 when he was aged nine.

In November 2021, Carter had a son with his then-fiancée Melanie Martin.

In September 2022, he checked into rehabilitation for drug addiction after losing child custody of his son.

The singer had a tumultuous relationship with his siblings, with many of their feuds playing out on social media.
