The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has denied rolling out additional hikes after earlier upping its fees to over ₦190,000.
The federal university, in July 2023, did an upward review in its fees that is to take effect from September 1.
This put the sessional mandatory charges for new undergraduate students at ₦126,325 for courses without a lab/studio and ₦176,325 for one academic session when it comes to courses with a laboratory or studio.
The sessional mandatory charges for returning students were put at ₦100,750 for courses without labs and studios while that of courses with access to labs and studios were fixed at ₦140,250.
UNILAG further stated that the approved charge for all medical students of the institution is ₦190,250.
The institution is now raising alarm that claims are making the rounds that it rolled out additional increments.
In a statement via its website, UNILAG said misrepresent the facts and aim to misinform the public into believing that there has been another adjustment of fees.
“The management is not unmindful of the prevailing economic realities,” UNILAG’s statement reads in part.
“As of the date of this disclaimer, it has not issued any other notice of increment apart from the adjusted obligatory fees for new and returning undergraduate students published in its Information Flash News Bulletin and official website on July 21, 2023.”
