Udo Jude Ilo, head of Nigeria office for the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), has announced that ‘Kasie’, his upcoming book, will be launched on February 23.
In a statement to TheCable Lifestyle on Wednesday, the author also disclosed that Natasha Ilo Foundation, a family initiative that is aimed to immortalise Natasha, his late daughter, will be launched on the same date.
According to him, the event will hold by 5:00pm at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation in Abuja.
Commenting on the book, Ilo said the project is a tribute to his late daughter and meant to inspire others who are also grappling with the pain of losing a child.
“Kasie’ a three-part book of poems, is a tribute to my little girl. I do not ever want the world to forget my daughter. In these words, here, I celebrate her short life. I celebrate my love for her and the joy she brought to my heart…,” he said.
“I hope that by reading this book, it may comfort those going through pain and help others to understand the pain of loss, especially the loss of a child.”
According to him, the Natasha Ilo Foundation “is borne out of a strong conviction that every child deserves to live a full healthy life.”
Ilo said the foundation seeks to support children’s development by accelerating access to health, education and preventing sexual as well as domestic violence.
He enjoined the media to support the event with a view at projecting its objectives to the larger community.
Ilo added that measures are being put in place to ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 protocol, while calling on media personnel as well as participants to confirm their attendance to facilitate proper planning.
