Donald Trump has engaged John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, his wife, in a heated war of words on Twitter over the singer’s failure to credit him for the passage of the First Step Act, a legislation that reforms US’ federal prison system.
On Sunday, the American pianist featured on MSNBC’s final installment of ‘Justice For All’, a news report that borders on US’ criminal justice system with the aim of highlighting the stories of wrongfully accused persons and unravelling new ways of seeking justice.
He was said to have discussed issues pertaining to the signed act with respect to the efforts of ‘Free America’, his organization that aims to “amplify the voices of individuals impacted by America’s criminal justice system and those working to change it.”
Trump, however, visited his Twitter page on the same day to fire a barrage of critical tweets at Legend and his wife, claiming that the duo and other criminal justice reform advocates are “taking the praise” for legislation he helped pass.
“When all of the people pushing so hard for Criminal Justice Reform were unable to come even close to getting it done, they came to me as a group and asked for my help. I got it done with a group of Senators & others who would never have gone for it. Obama couldn’t come close,” he wrote.
“A man named @VanJones68, and many others, were profusely grateful (at that time!). I signed it into law. No one else did, and Republicans deserve much credit. But, now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise.
“Musician @johnlegend and his filthy-mouthed wife are talking now about how great it is. But I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed. ‘Anchor’@LesterHoltNBC doesn’t even bring up the subject of President Trump or the Republicans when talking about the importance or passage of Criminal Justice Reform.
“They only talk about the minor players or people that had nothing to do with it. And the people that so desperately sought my help when everyone else had failed, all they talk about now is Impeaching President Trump!”

His lengthy tirade did not go down well with the couple and Teigen immediately took to the microblogging platform to insult the president.
“lol what a pu**y a** b**ch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president,” Teigen wrote.
“Luna, remember the night before your first day of school? When mommy was making your sign and the pu**y a** b**ch president had his 9th meltdown of the day?”

Legend also shot back at Trump for “hate-watching” the show. He issued a plea to Melania, his wife, to “praise this man. He needs you”.
“Imagine being president of a whole country and spending your Sunday night hate-watching MSNBC, hoping somebody — ANYBODY — will praise you. Melania, please praise this man. He needs you,” Legend wrote.
Your country needs you, Melania

Legend had previously been at odds with the president over his “racist comments” with regards to the black community living in the US.
He had called for Trump’s removal over his criticism of Elijah Cummings, a black congressman.
No American president should ever call anyone “filthy-mouthed,” like Trump just did to Chrissy Teigen. It’s beneath the office of the presidency, like everything Trump does. Trump is an international disgrace. Chrissy is a patriot. Anyone who says anything different is a liar.

This exchange between Chrissy Teigen and #PresidentPussyAssBitch should be placed in the Smithsonian because it's a very important part of our history as a people. pic.twitter.com/O0gwa8w1YM

As of the time this report was filed, the trio’s war of words had seized the US Twitter by the grip while public figures and citizens alike have taken to the microblogging platform to air their divergent opinions in that regard.
