According to TMZ, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) found out about the incident at the end of November.

The media outlet, quoting law enforcement sources, said the 38-year-old was accused of hitting two people in the face at a bowling alley in October.

It was gathered that the first victim was hospitalised at the time.

The second victim, said to be a man, had claimed Songz punched him in the eye.

The singer was also said to have resisted attempts to give his accuser medical treatment.

The music star was said to have voluntarily reported at an NYPD station weeks after the incident.

At the station, the police reportedly interrogated him and gave him a desk appearance ticket for alleged assault before releasing him on bail.

Speaking on the incident, Mitch Schuster, the singer’s lawyer, expressed optimism that his client would be cleared of wrongdoing.

“We have been proactively communicating with NY law enforcement, the DA, and all those involved. While we will respectfully and proactively work through all the appropriate channels we are confident that Trey will be fully cleared of any wrong doing,” Schuster said.

The development comes amid the sexual assault suits filed against the musician by various women.
