A video showing some nursing students of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) taking a quiz under the sun has surfaced online and gone viral.

In the short footage, some of the students could be seen kneeling on the floor while others stood in groups.

It was gathered that the students were writing a test on a general studies programme (GSP) course.

It remains to be seen if the video is recent or old.

GSP courses are usually taken by most, if not all, departments in tertiary institutions thereby resulting in overcrowded lecture halls.

Those filming the incident could be heard condemning the treatment of the students while reflecting on the country’s poor educational system.

“Just imagine. Nursing students writing open test under the sun in UNN. How these people go take pass? Nigeria is messed up,” they could be heard saying.

But when contacted by TheCable Lifestyle on Thursday, Okwun Omeaku, the institution’s spokesman, said he could not comment because he was yet to see the video.

“I am yet to see the video so I cannot comment on what l haven’t seen,” he said.

The video has continued to ignite mixed reactions across social media platforms, with some calling out the federal government over neglect of the country’s education sector.

Overcrowded lecture hall in tertiary institutions, particularly government-owned ones, is not a new thing due to infrastructure deficit.

Such dearth of adequate facilities, among other issues, had informed the over nine-month strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) last year.
