A lady identified as Jopearl has taken to social media to claim she was in a love affair with Burna Boy, an Afrobeat star, at about the same time the singer and Stefflon Don, a British rapper, started dating.
The ‘African Giant’ crooner and the rapper made their relationship public early last year with the pair confessing their affection for each other on numerous occasions.
But in separate videos on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Jopearl said her relationship with Burna Boy lasted for about two years.
The lady said she decided to break her silence as her resolve to keep it a secret has continued to hurt her.
“Two years is such a long time for a person to be hidden. It has affected me in so many ways, and I can’t hold it anymore to protect people that wouldn’t protect me,” she said.
According to her, the ‘Twice As Tall’ singer had messaged her on Instagram about two years ago but she had hesitated to respond until her friends persuaded her to do so.

The lady claimed the pair eventually started talking — with Burna Boy inviting her to one of his shows in the UK afterwards.
Jopearl said she thereafter fell in love with the singer after putting her earlier reservations about dating anyone in the music industry.
“His words actually worth his action. Not only will he tell me he loves me, and other personal things, he actually showed me,” she added.
She explained that their relationship continued on a good note before Burna Boy left the UK for Nigeria in November ahead of the busy Christmas schedule.
Jopearl added that initially, they maintained their usual rate of communication until mid-December when she didn’t hear from the singer again — a development that culminated in other issues including an argument between the pair.
She added that it was amid this that she got wind of the relationship between Burna Boy and Don, a development, she said left her devastated.
“I literally collapsed and cried for days, probably even weeks,” she said.
“I feel like the thing that hurt me the most is that from the first day I met him, he always emphasized how much he just loved black women, African women. He made me feel so good to the point; I cut my hair just recently.”
She, however, said after a short hiatus, the duo resumed their relationship as she was unperturbed by the singer’s relationship with the British rapper.
Jopearl said she had finally decided to reveal the truth about their “secret relationship” as it has been “detrimental to my mental state.”
“I’m just tired of protecting you. I’ve got feelings too, seeing you in secret for two years has been detrimental to my mental state,” she added.
“It’s my choice, but you guys will never understand what it is to be in my shoes.”

As of the time of this report, Burna Boy is yet to react to her claims.
