Nigerians can now choose a winner in the “voters’ choice” category for the 2018 edition of the 9mobile photography competition.

The online public voting kicked off on November 5 and will run until November 19.

In line with the competition’s criteria, 100 entries had been shortlisted after being evaluated by an internal committee.

The top 100 images will be displayed on the 9mobile portal for the two-week period while voting continues.

Out of the 100 entries shortlisted, a three-member judging panel will also select the first, second and third prize winners respectively.

Kola Oshalusi, a creative photographer, Bernard Kalu, a documentary photographer, and Aisha Augie-Kuta, an award-winning photo-journalist, are this year’s judges.

In a statement, Elvis Ogiemwanye, director of brands and experience at 9mobile, said the competition aims to develop creativity and raw talent among Nigerians.

“The hundreds of entries received from all over the country made us truly excited. We are passionate about helping Nigerians to fulfill their dreams and develop their talents and the 9mobile Photography Competition is one of such platforms that enable us deliver on this promise,” he said.

“The top 3 list will be announced on November 27, 2018, while the winner and the first and second runners-up respectively will be announced on December 6 this year.

“The theme of this year’s competition is ‘9ja: My Grind, My Hustle’, in celebration of individuals that labour daily to make ends meet, those who appreciate the importance of hard work, and have a drive for success and fulfillment.”
