After carefully considering and analyzing metrics, including TCL radio picks, Spotify numbers, and Turn Table’s weekly top 100, TheCable Lifestyle presents the top 10 hottest Nigerian songs in 2024.
Egwu – Chike (ft Mohbad)
Released on December 15, 2023, ‘Egwu’ is a heartfelt tribute to the late Mohbad. The song started on the third spot in the first week of this year on TCL radio picks. A week later, it trumped ‘Twe Twe’ by Kizz Daniel to take the first position.
The track spent four non-consecutive weeks at number one on the official top 100 curated by TurnTable and has over 49 million streams on Spotify.
Twe Twe – Kizz Daniel ft (Davido)
‘Twe Twe’ by Kizz Daniel was released on December 12, 2023. Later, a remix featuring Davido was delivered on January 25, 2024. The song has been played over 13 million times on Spotify. It ranked number one on Nigeria’s official streaming and radio song charts.
‘Twe Twe’ remix also spent two non-consecutive weeks at number one on the streaming chart and three consecutive weeks at number one on the radio chart. The remix spent an eighth non-consecutive week at number one on the TurnTable official Nigeria Top 100.
Tshwala Bam remix – TitoM & Yuppe (ft Burna Boy)
The Tshwala Bam remix, featuring Burna Boy, was released on May 15, 2024. The remix was a follow-up to the original song which dropped on February 23, 2024. The song has earned over 52 million streams on Spotify and dominated the top spot on TurnTable’s official Nigeria Top 100 in May and July.
MMS – Asake (ft. Wizkid)
Asake’s song ‘MMS’ with Wizkid was released on August 8, 2024. The track achieved a significant milestone on Spotify Nigeria, garnering over 121,000 streams within six hours of its release.
‘MMS’ recorded 870,000 streams to set a new record for the highest first-day streams for a song on Spotify. It also debuted on the number one spot of TurnTable’s Top 100 the same week it was released.
Higher – Burna Boy
Burna Boy’s ‘Higher’ was released on June 27, 2024. The song marked a departure from Burna Boy’s typical high-energy tracks, showcasing a more emotionally deep and reflective side to his music.
In August, ‘Higher’ spent a fourth non-consecutive week at number one on the official Nigeria Top 100.
Juju – Smur Lee (ft. Odumodublvck and Shallipopi)
‘Juju’ by Smur Lee, Odumodublvck, and Shallipopi was released on August 22, 2024. The song marked Smur Lee’s first chance at the Top 100, becoming the fifth artiste to reach the top of the chart with their first entry.
A month later, the song recorded 3.45 million on-demand streams. The song currently has over 27 million streams on Spotify.
Awuke – Davido
‘Awuke’ by Davido and YG Marley was released on October 31, 2024. The song recorded 494,990 streams in its first full day of release on Spotify Nigeria and is currently Davido’s longest number-one song on the official singles chart history in Nigeria.
It currently has over 26 million streams on Spotify.
Kese (Dance) – Wizkid
Wizkid released ‘Kese (Dance)’ on November 15, 2024. The high-energy track is part of his album ‘Morayo’ which dropped on November 22, 2024. The song recorded 1.57 million streams on its first day of release, making it the biggest first-day stream ever by any song on Spotify Nigeria.
According to TurnTable, the song made history by recording the biggest radio airplay impressions by any single in a week in Nigeria. It tallied 114.8 million in radio reach during the week of November 15 – 21, 2024. It currently has over 23 million on Spotify.
Different Pattern – Seyi Vibez
‘Different Pattern’ by Seyi Vibez was released on December 8, 2023, as part of his EP ‘Nahamciaga’. It is the most-streamed song on Apple Music in Nigeria in 2024.
The song also has over 35 million streams on Spotify.
Commas – Ayra Starr
Ayra Starr’s ‘Commas’ was released on February 1, 2024. The song debuted on the third spot of the official Top 100 and rose to the first spot, spending two weeks on the apex spot. The song has recorded 100 million streams across all platforms and boasts over 87 million streams on Spotify.
