Tom Cruise, an American actor and film producer, is now in talks with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for a movie shoot in the outer space.
NASA, on Tuesday, confirmed that it is currently working with the Hollywood star to shoot an adventure film at the International Space Station (ISS).
“NASA is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the Space Station!” Jim Bridenstine, the administrator of the US space agency, wrote on Twitter.
“We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make Nasa’s ambitious plans a reality.”

CNN also quoted a spokesperson of NASA to have said that Cruise will launch into space and stay aboard the station, which is a multi-billion-dollar lab orbiting about 250 miles above Earth.
It’s believed that rotating crews of astronauts have been living aboard the ISS continuously since 2000, with NASA recently announcing plans to open the station for business and space tourism.
Films have been shot onboard the ISS, including a 2002 IMAX documentary and 2012’s ‘Apogee of Fear’, filmed by Richard Garriott, but Cruise is reportedly set to be the first to space-travel.
It remains unclear as to when Cruise will embark on the extraterrestrial exploration or what additional crew members would be joining him on the new-found project.
But the movie is set to come after filming procedures for the seventh installment of ‘Mission Impossible’, an action spy film also starring Cruise, was suspended over COVID-19 crisis.
