Tiya Akpanah, the Nigerian fashion designer, is set to organise a clothing exhibition in Lagos state.
In a statement on Wednesday, the entrepreneur said the exhibition will take place at the Glee Hotel in Victoria Island on November 26.
Akpanah added that the event titled ‘Sip and Shop & the After Party’ is organised by Tuviya Signature, her fashion brand.
Speaking ahead of the event, the fashionista said over 200 designs will be on display at the exhibition.
According to her, the exhibition is aimed at showcasing her fashion collections which took her about two years.
“This collection took about two years to build it up; the idea is to make this exhibition an annual event until I am well grounded. I want it to be an event that people look forward to experience,” she said.
“I am incredibly positive about the fashion show; I feel this could be an annual. I have no idea where this is going, but I believe I am moving in the right direction.”
Akpanah owns several businesses including a wig brand known as Mabel Kay
On her philosophical mindset to designs, she said: “I like simple things that challenge your thought processes. I do not like things that are overly complicated.
“For the exhibition, I will have things for men like my Etubo native dress and Ankara trousers. I still do my bits and pieces outside designing.”
