Tiwa Savage, the Nigerian singer, is set to headline the historic O2 Brixton Academy Arena in London, the United Kingdom, on Saturday.
In a statement on Thursday, the singer’s team said the much-awaited concert is the final leg of her ongoing European tour for ‘Water and Garri’, her 2021 extended play (EP).
The statement said the concert will be streamed live for free to 120 million youths in Africa.
The initiative, it added, is courtesy of UMG Africa and Adriano Mobile Development Management Ltd (AMDM) Africa, the streaming innovator.
It also said fans and music enthusiasts can follow the concert by simply downloading the Airtel TV app.
According to Tiwa, the initiative is her way of giving back to her fans who have been instrumental to her career strides.
“I empathize with the cost of living struggle that African youths are facing every day to make ends meet so if I can bring youths some joy for a few hours and remove the subscription fee for at least one of my shows, then so be It,” she said.
On his part, Adrian Ogun, the CEO of AMDM Africa, said the concert will make “Tiwa the first-ever female African Afrobeats artiste to headline the 4,921-capacity O2 Brixton Academy.”
Ogun also commended Segun Ogunsanya and Sipho Dlamini, the CEOs of Airtel and UMG Africa, for supporting Tiwa’s vision for African youths’ inclusion in the viewership of the international live performances.
