A few weeks ago, the singer came under backlash after he said ‘Vibes on the beach with Big Wiz’, his concert scheduled for December 30, would be his last performance in Lagos.

“Last time I ever perform in Lagos. Let’s rage!!” Wizkid had announced.

His comment, however, provoked outrage, with a huge number of his fans accusing him of “disrespecting” the city that made him famous.

But speaking at a concert in Lagos on Saturday, the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner said some fans “misquoted” his remark.

The ‘Essence’ singer also declared that his next shows in the state will be free.

“Let me tell you something, When I said this is going to be my last show in Lagos right…What I really meant was, with the kind of love that you guys show me, it is very unfair to do shows around the world and come back and still make you guys pay to watch me perform,” he said.

“So, I want to make a promise tonight, this would be the last time you are ever gonna pay to come to Wizkid’s show.”

Wizkid recently provoked the fury of his fans in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire after he failed to show up for paid concerts.

The music star also angered the Nigerian rap community after he said the music genre is “boring and dead”.

BlaqbonezUche OgbodoOladips, and MI Abaga, were among the celebrities who reacted to the singer’s controversial remark.
