Since 1990, Billboard, a publication covering the music business and popularity chart, has been giving out awards annually. The finalists are based on album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring, and social engagement. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners.
The 2021 event was held at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The event was hosted by Nick Jonas, American singer, with the Weeknd, Canadian songwriter, emerging the biggest winner of the night, taking home 10 awards, including top artist.
Pop Smoke won five awards including top new artist while BTS, K-pop band, and Bad Bunny earned four apiece.
Drake, Canadian rapper, was named artist of the decade while Pink was honoured with the icon award.
