British actress Thandie Newton earned herself a place among the memorable moments of the 2018 Emmy Awards.
Newton won outstanding supporting actress in a drama for her role as Madam Millay in HBO science fiction television series ‘Westworld’.
While delivering her acceptance speech, the ‘Crash’ star said: “I don’t even believe in God, but I’m gonna thank her tonight.”
Before she could proceed with her speech, her comment drew laughter and applause from the audience.
Then she continued, saying, “I am so blessed. Without this, I am even so f*****g blessed.
“I can’t believe I am here. The cast and crew of Westworld, I love you all so much.”
Newton has also earned Critics’ Choice Award, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for her role in ‘Westworld’.
At the Emmys, she was nominated alongside Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), Alexis Bledel (The Handmaid’s Tale), Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale).

‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ was the biggest winner of the night with five awards while ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story’ claimed three awards.

Another memorable moment of the Emmys, which took place at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, was when Glenn Weiss proposed to his girlfriend, Jan Svendsen, on stage.
Weiss won outstanding directing for a variety special, a recognition of his work on the 2018 Oscars.
