“Dear Mr rap man, what the hell happened?”, a reflective Terry Tha Rapman asks himself in the opening verse of ‘Open Letter’.

What makes the question so important is that hip hop fans have been seeking answers to it for the past few years.

About a decade ago, Terry Tha Rapman was viewed as one of the leading lights of Nigerian hip hop but all that changed when he sought to commercialise and appeal to a larger audience.

After years in the wilderness of experimentation, it appears reality has finally dawned on the rapper as he has now come full circle.

On ‘Open Letter’, Terry Tha Rapman is brutally honest and critical of himself, his career decline and the needless controversies he’s found himself enmeshed in.

He features the impressive Lady Donli on the new song — and it’s hard to disagree with the rapper’s criticism of himself.

Enjoy.
