‘Free Mind’ is a track off ‘For Broken Ears’, Tems’ debut seven-track extended play (EP) released on September 25, 2020.
It is understood that the development makes her the second Nigerian artiste to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 on four occasions alongside Wizkid.
In May, the ‘Damages’ crooner became the first African singer to debut at number one on the chart for her role in ‘Wait For U’, the hit song by Future featuring Drake.
The singer also previously debuted on the Hot 100 chart with ‘Fountain’ by Drake and ‘Essence’ by Wizkid.
Wizkid had achieved the feat with ‘Essence’, Drake’s ‘One Dance’, Beyonce’s ‘Black Skin Girl’, and Chris Brown’s ‘Call Me Everyday’.
Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, has been enjoying massive attention in the international music landscape since she was featured on ‘Essence’.
The 26-year-old vocalist was recently featured in the soundtrack of the ‘Black Panther‘ sequel trailer.
In the trailer, Tems delivered a soulful rendition of Bob Marley’s hit song ‘No Woman, No Cry’ before transitioning to ‘Alright’, the 2015 single by Kendrick Lamar.
