Burna Boy, Tems, and Wizkid have made it into Billboard’s 100 best songs of 2022.

In the list released on Wednesday, Tems clinched the number 9 spot with ‘Free Mind’.

‘Free Mind’ is a track off ‘For Broken Ears’, the Nigerian songstress’ debut seven-track extended play (EP) released on September 25, 2020.

Billboard stated that even though the song was released in 2020, its “unflappable” production made it worthy of the list.

“The production, courtesy of Tems and Omeiza, remains unflappable despite the stressful themes, carrying her on a wave right up to the closing bridge, where the beat drops out and she finally reaches calm waters,” Billboard wrote.

The song has continued to receive massive recognition in both the Nigerian and international music space since its release. In July, ‘Free Mind’ debuted at number 90 on Billboard Hot 100.

Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’, a single off his 2022 album ‘Love, Damini’, snagged number 32.

‘Last Last,’ which samples American singer Toni Braxton’s ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough,’ had earlier been named the longest-running number-one track on the Afrobeats chart in the United Kingdom.

Wizkid’s ‘Bad To Me’ also clinched number 72 on the list.
