Afropop singer Tekno has issued an apology to fans and event organisers for missing performance engagements he has been booked for.

The singer, real name Augustine Kelechi, said he has been “away on treatment”, although he failed to state what illness he is treating.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Teknos noted that he is “taking time out to fully recover”.

The ‘Pana’ singer said he is looking forward to getting back to recording, performing and touring.

He also urged his fans to pray for him as he recuperates from the unspecified illness.

Tekno wrote: “I’ve been away and on treatment. Pls don’t be upset that I can’t make it to shows I’ve been booked for.

“I’m taking time out to fully recover and hopefully get back to doing what I love most soonest.

“I apologize and if you can, please pray for me. God watch over us all.”

This is not the first time Tekno will take a break from making music to focus on his health.

In April 2017, the singer took time off to treat a “worsened” case of acid reflux.

At the time, he travelled out of the country to the US and also cancelled booked engagements.
