TheCable Lifestyle had reported how the deceased, a recent graduate of the varsity, was found dead on Sunday — a few days after she was declared missing.

The state police command would thereafter apprehend Uduak Frank Akpan, a 20-year-old man for “kidnapping, countlessly raping, and then killing the victim”.

According to the police, the suspected killer was said to have first buried the deceased in a shallow grave and fled.

In several clips making the rounds on the social media, the students of faculty of Arts were clad in black outfits with some of them seen crying uncontrollably.

They also carried placards with different inscriptions demanding for justice for their late colleague.

Umoh Uduak, a friend to Umoren, had narrated how police operatives allegedly requested for a hired and fueled van before they could commence investigation into the matter.

“When she went back at 8:30 am (the next day), the police told her they couldn’t go with their van, that she has to hire a van and buy fuel. I called people and they sent money which she got and returned to the station,” she had said.

The house of representatives had earlier asked Usman Baba, acting inspector-general of police (IGP), to take over the investigation into Umoren’s murder.
