Team Tami (Toyosi and Damilola), the BBNaija season nine housemates, have opened up on their premature eviction from Biggie’s house.

The pair became the first housemates to be evicted from this year’s BBNaija edition. They were asked to leave the house last Sunday.

In an interview with a selected group of journalists, Dami blamed herself for their eviction, arguing that her altercation with some housemates in the kitchen was why “we were voted out of the house”.

“I want to believe that if I had acted better, if the whole kitchen thing did not happen, like if they did not take it in any offensive way, we would not be out by now,” she said.

On her part, Toyosi also admitted that the quarrel affected how the housemates related to her. She said they were “being careful” around her because of Dami.

“At first I was getting to know the people and then the altercation happened in the kitchen. After the altercation, when they saw me they started to keep quiet, they didn’t want to talk to me, they were just very careful around me,” she said.

“Sometimes when I come around, they just excuse themselves. So it was just like a transfer of aggression from her side to mine and I understand that it’s because we are a pair. So they just took it out on me.”

Toyosi also revealed why she will not be living with Damilola. The friends of seven years had also been roommates.

In an interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu shortly after their eviction, the beautician mentioned that she would temporarily separate from Damilola “wo we process our feelings separately”.

Clarifying what she meant, Toyosi said: “I did not say I needed space from Damilola, there has been a misconception about this whole thing”.

“I said that we would need to process our feelings separately, that is so different from needing space,” she added.

“I said that we needed to process our feelings separately so we would be able to move forward from it. I never said I needed space from her.”

When asked how Toyosi’s decision made her feel, Dami described it as “shocking”.

“After the whole eviction we had just slept, we had not spoken so it was not like there was a conversation. But it is understandable on both ends as much as it was shocking to me. It was however a mutual understanding,” she said.
