Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) is set to host another edition of its TALP X (TAFTA Action Learning Project) in Lagos.
The new edition will be held on September 20 at the Terra Kulture, Victoria Island from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
In a statement, the organisers said the quarterly showcase is a dynamic platform for the academy’s emerging talents to present a stirring blend of performance, imagination, and cultural commentary.
It spotlights the next generation of Nigerian storytellers as they bring their boldest and most original ideas to life on stage.
The upcoming event will feature two original plays crafted and performed by TAFTA’s creative cohorts: ‘Kingmaker’ and ‘Bookcover’.
‘Kingmaker’ is a bold and intense stage drama that follows an enslaved girl who defies the brutal odds of a male-dominated society to become a kingmaker.
The play is a powerful exploration of courage, ambition, and the transformative power to rewrite one’s own destiny.
In contrast, ‘Bookcover’ offers a heartwarming and humorous tale about an elite family forced to confront its own deep-seated prejudices.
The story serves as a poignant reminder that people are always far more than the images and stereotypes assigned to them.
More than just an evening of entertainment, TALP X represents the culmination of TAFTA’s intensive training program.
After months of dedicated mentorship in disciplines including scriptwriting, lighting, sound design, animation, and art entrepreneurship, students collaborate to create and stage these original productions, transforming theory into an electric live experience.
Founded by Bolanle Austen-Peters, TAFTA is a leading creative academy dedicated to empowering emerging talents through free, high-quality training and real-world performance opportunities.
