Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) has hosted the maiden edition of ÀRÌRÀ, a homecoming event for its alumni.
The event, designed to strengthen creative ties, collaboration and celebrate the achievements of its growing community, was held on Friday at Terra Kulture in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The homecoming gathered alumni from several cohorts across Lagos, Ogun and Kano.
The programme included music, spoken-word pieces, shared experiences, food and a series of fun contests.
One of the highlights was an inter-cohort challenge that encouraged collaboration and creativity among participants.
Alumni from various sets took turns on stage, delivering energetic displays that reinforced the bond within the TAFTA network.
A memorable moment from the evening was a spoken-word piece by Divinefavour Udechukwu, one of TAFTA’s alumni.
Speaking about the event, JO Umoibom, academy lead at TAFTA, said the homecoming reflects the academy’s mission of building a supportive creative community that thrives beyond the classroom.
He added that the unity displayed at ÀRÌRÀ showed the strength and future potential of the alumni network.
“ÀRÌRÀ has become a reminder of why TAFTA exists. We are not only training young creatives, we are building a community that continues to support one another long after the classroom experience,” he said.
”The energy, creativity and camaraderie we witnessed tonight reflect the strength of this network and the potential it holds for the future.”
Chinedu Isagbah, programs manager for Lagos state, also highlighted that gatherings like ÀRÌRÀ strengthen the creative ecosystem by promoting connection, mentorship, and collaboration among alumni.
“The creative economy grows stronger when communities stay connected. ÀRÌRÀ reinforces the importance of continuous learning, mentorship and collaboration. I am excited to see how this gathering contributes to the professional and cultural ecosystem TAFTA has worked hard to create,” he said.
At the event, the academy also officially launched the TAFTA Young Women Advisory Group (YWAG), an initiative aimed at supporting young women through mentorship, leadership training, and structured guidance to thrive in the creative industry.
The alumni described the initiative as an important step toward building a more inclusive and empowered creative community.
